Materials Selection and Cataloging for Diverse Audiences

Session Description

Multnomah County Library recognizes the needs of our diverse community and has bilingual staff throughout the system to serve our patrons. The Technical Services department has dedicated staff to select and catalog Spanish, Russian, Chinese, Vietnamese and Somali materials. Learn how we connect with our users in a variety of ways to inform our decisions on selecting and cataloging.

    Angela Tveretinova is the Russian Materials Selector & Cataloger for Multnomah County Library in Portland, Oregon. In her role, she creates a diverse collection and engages with the community through outreach. She is an advocate for diversity and inclusion and leads staff trainings on Russian culture and is an active member of the Immigrant and Refugee Employee Resource Group.

    Margaret Finnan is the Spanish Materials Selector & Cataloger for Multnomah County Library in Portland, Oregon. She has a bachelor’s degree in Hispanic Studies & History. She strives to create a rich and accessible collection that reflects the needs of the Spanish-speaking community in Portland.
