Session Description

This presentation outlines the basics of electronic resource accessibility compliance, and establishes the vocabulary you’ll need to effectively communicate with your vendors (Section 508, VPAT, WCAG). The presenter provides ideas for establishing an accessibility-related acquisitions workflow, and tells tales of vendor interactions that helped to shape current processes and expectations.

    Erin Finnerty is the Electronic Resources Librarian at Temple University, a large research university in Philadelphia with more than 400 degree programs and hundreds of database subscriptions. She has been working on issues of accessibility and electronic resources acquisition at Temple since 2013, and created their current workflow while coordinating with University-level policies and initiatives. Among other professional activities, she has presented on issues of electronic resource accessibility at ER&L, and hosted an accessibility-related webinar for ASCLA.
